There are a wide variety of activities for Saint Robert School students and family to get involved in outside of school hours. Below is the list of activities, eligible grades, time of year they are available and a brief description of each.

Art Club                   

Band - SRS offers band for 5th through 8th graders. All 5th and 6th graders learn to play an instrument in music class. Students are fitted for instruments in the spring of 4th grade. Parents have the option to borrow a school instrument and take responsibility for keeping it in perfect shape or renting through Marshall Music Co. 7th and 8th graders may choose Advanced Band as an elective and will have Band 3 times a week. Band students may play at Pep Rallies, sporting events, Christmas concerts, Candle walk, special events, and the spring concert. Book Bowl - St Robert School fields a minimum of 2 Book Bowl teams per school year. There is a 5th/6th grade team and a 7th/8th grade team. Students may sign up for Book Bowl in the fall of the school year. They are required to read 9-10 young adult books chosen by the Genesee County Book Bowl organization. Students meet with coaches weekly or bi monthly throughout the school year. They discuss the books and scrimmage other teams over book information and themes. The goal is to prepare for the spring (April) Book Bowl competition at Baker College. Teams from throughout Genesee County compete in a 3 day Quiz Bowl format competition. Boy Scouts - Troop 206 is the St. Robert School Boy Scout Troop. The troop participates in many service projects and community events. They are always seeking interested members. For more information contact Sponsor, Mr. Harold Whitcomb at 810-659-2503.

Choir - The SRS Choir is in a "rebuilding mode" for the 2011-2012 school year. Students in grades 4-8 who are interested in choir meet on Wednesdays during recess with Mrs. Rose, Choir Director, in the Music Room. They then return to the cafeteria for lunch. The Choir will be taking a part in the spring concert as well as the spring musical. Students in grades 7 and 8 will have the opportunity to sign up for a choir elective in 2012-2013 (2 days a week). Cub Scouts - St. Robert Pack 206 welcomes boys from grade 1 through grade 5 who either attend St. Robert School and/or are members of St. Robert Parish.  Den meetings by grades are two times per month and overall pack meetings are monthly during the school year. Boys have fun learning with their peers, exploring the outdoors, going on field trips, and earning various badges and awards.

Family Fun Night - The SRS Wellness Team offers a night each winter for parents and students to participate in fun fitness activities as well as sample healthy snacks. Fiat Group - Sister Mary Ann Foggin meets each Wednesday at lunch with 7th and 8th grade girls interested in charity work and finding out more about vocations. The students share stories, learn about the diversity of vocations available to them, and also participate in charity projects. More information is available through the school office 810-659-2503.

Field Day - Field Day is a tradition at SRS that will change in 2011-2012. Catholic School students from throughout Genesee County will meet on May 18, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Field for the first ever, Catholic School Regional Field Day. Students will be broken down into grades and schools to compete in a variety of track, field, and fun events. The students of Powers Catholic High School will assist parent and teacher sponsors from each school during the events. Lunch will be provided. More information will be available in spring 2012.

FIRST Lego League Robotics - Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to join FIRST Lego League Robotics. The team meets from August through November to put together a two-fold presentation on an assigned annual topic. Students and coaches research the topic and then create a solution using a computerized Lego robot and an obstacle course. The second portion of the problem is to present the research and it's applications in a dramatization. The club can meet beyond November, depending on how they place in the initial competition. Friendship Games - 7th grade students from SRS compete each Catholic School Week (last week in January) at Powers Catholic High School in this integrated competition that mixes students from all of the Catholic elementary schools into teams that compete in fun strategies and games such as: orienteering, quiz bowl, basketball shoot, etc. The competition begins at 2pm and ends with an "Olympic like Award Ceremony." It is an outstanding and nonthreatening way for students from throughout the county to get to know their Catholic school peers.

Math Club

Minute to Win it - The upper grades (4-8) of SRS meet each fall for a lively competition based on the popular game show, "Minute to Win It." This is a Student Council sponsored event and is open to all SRS students grades 4-8 and their friends and neighbors. Mock Rock/Talent Show - February 9, 2012 is the night you have all been waiting for! It is the annual SRS Talent Show and Mock Rock in the SRS gym at 7pm. come and help the judges: J Lo, Randy, and Steven determine the greatest acts for 2012! Movie Night - This fall evening is a favorite among students K-3 and teachers. Grab your sleeping bag, a snack, a friend, and come join your classmates for a big screen movie night at school!

Parent Trivia Night - Each fall the Technology Department and Staff of SRS offers a fun night for SRS parents in Angel Hall. Parent teams vie for the title of Trivia Champs, along with fabulous prizes. Watch for details and sign up dates. There is the possibility of a spring 2012 rematch. Right to Life Group - This group of 4-8 graders meet monthly with their sponsor at lunch in Mary's Room to discuss ways to promote the sanctity of life and also to research and learn about the reasons for the Catholic churches stand on this issue. Spring Musical - The Fine Arts Department, under the direction of Ms. Mathenia and Mrs. Rose performs an annual spring musical. Tryouts are held February and the performances are in late April. Students in grades 4-8 are eligible to participate. Watch for details in the newsletter and website.

Student Council - Students in grades 4-8 are involved in the governance of St. Robert School through Student Council. Officers and representatives are elected each September. The Student Council sponsors a variety of events for both social and charitable causes. They sponsor the annual Talent Show/Mock Rock, pep rallies, Brunch with Saint Nicholas, Halloween Pumpkin Painting, as well as breast cancer awareness drive, and St. Jude Math-a-thon to name a few. Yearbook - St Robert School offers an annual yearbook in conjunction with JD Pictures (school portrait provider). The yearbook is complied throughout the year. Students may order a yearbook for a nominal fee in the winter for spring delivery.
